FAQs

What is integrative medicine?

The practice of integrative medicine refers to the blending of conventional and evidence-based natural and complementary medicines and/or therapies with lifestyle interventions to deliver holistic, patient-centred care.

What is the process involved?

Once a patient fills in as many details as possible in the history form it gives us a better opportunity to look at the conditions the patient needs help with as well as the environmental factors including stresses/ exposure to toxins etc.

This is followed by a long consult to complete identification of various issues and plan long term preventative care. Some imaging and lab tests may be suggested as per the individual situation and some of them may not be covered by Medicare but the patient will be actively involved in deciding whether they would like to go down that pathway or not.

What is an integrative plan?

A comprehensive integrative plan will be designed together with the patient to set goals and follow up regularly to achieve them. The plan can include suggestions as per patient preferences regarding exercise/ mindfulness/ herbs/ supplements and how long to take the supplements safely as well as all other routine medical follow up with different specialists as needed.
